Developer

The Developer is responsible for the development, design, and implementation of new and modified software products and ongoing business projects.  A key area of focus is our custom web-based Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the desired user experience and business results for our in-house LIMS.
  • Research, design, write, implement, and manage efficient code.
  • Identify areas of modification in existing programs and subsequently develop these modifications and/or upgrades.
  • Perform testing from scripted test cases as well as write test cases based on laboratory requirements.
  • Perform smoke testing and regression testing to ensure comprehensive analysis of issues and resolutions.  This includes debugging pre-released software for defects.

Network & Systems Specialist

The Network & Systems Specialist is responsible for ensuring our network and systems function efficiently.  Key areas of focus include collecting/analyzing network performance data, monitoring network security, and troubleshooting both hardware and software issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the desired user experience and business results for our technology.
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and monitoring of network equipment, including security appliances, firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and VPNs.
  • Manage group policies, file servers/NAS, backup/recovery, physical and virtual servers, DNS/DHCP servers, domain controllers, and security control systems.
  • Deploy client operating system and software patches, including backup of critical devices.
  • Manage cloud services such as Exchange Online and Azure AD/Microsoft Office 365.
  • Assist with deployment and monitoring of endpoint security, MDM policy configuration, and peripheral network devices.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and stakeholders to develop strategies for improved processes by utilizing and documenting reliable, replicable, and appropriate technology solutions.
  • Perform routine maintenance on various devices and platforms.  Particular emphasis is placed on monitoring systems for faults and failures, evaluating the technical issue(s), and developing timely solutions.
  • Successfully provide live and remote support for users with varying IT knowledge bases and comfort levels.  This includes resolving escalated Help Desk tickets and general overflow.

Quality Control Specialist

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible executing the Company’s quality control program by using established quality policies and measures to monitor and ensure compliance with BCC regulations, CDFA regulations, and ISO 17025 accreditation.  Our Quality department serves as a key check and balance measure in our operation and requires adherence to and modeling of the highest ethical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate quality policies and procedures to all levels of the organization – from entry-level to executive.
  • Review and release Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) prior to release and ensure all reported information is accurate.
  • Assist in managing the proficiency test program and performing ring tests for laboratory assays.
  • Assist in verifying comprehensiveness of analytical batches, including test records, batch size, quality control samples, calibration, and similar.
  • Assist in investigating non-conformance events and conduct root cause analysis investigations.  Generate reports, ensure corrective action is taken, recommend preventive action, and follow-up to confirm timely implementation as necessary.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.  This may include, but is not limited to: inspecting and verifying compliance test records, compiling data packets, investigating deficiency findings, drafting corrective/preventive actions and following-up, and drafting audit reports.  Offsite audits may include sampling and other lab facilities.
  • Provide general laboratory support, such as establishing, reviewing, and updating SOPs, attending meetings, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Confer with interdepartmental staff on questionable information or test results (anomalies) and assist in correcting the information as necessary.
  • Document and conduct investigations in response to customer complaints.  Communicate findings to all appropriate internal and external parties.
  • Assist with data packet compilation and review of test records, analytical batch requirements, quality control samples, raw data, chromatograms, and similar.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate METRC issues and inquiries from customers.
  • Interpret test results and assess compliance.

Sales Executive

The Sales Executive is responsible for generating new business, as well as maintaining and deepening our existing customer relationships.  This includes sourcing, coordinating with, and meeting potential customers in the industry that have cannabis testing needs.  Primary areas of focus are identifying new customers, promoting existing customer retention, and successfully onboarding new accounts.  This role is an outside sales position.

Sales Director

Microbiology Lead

The Microbiology Lead is responsible for overseeing various Microbiology technical operations, procedures, and lab protocol.  In addition, this role is charged with operational oversight (providing direction regarding day-to-day workflow) of the department while building and developing leadership skills.

Lab Analyst

The Lab Analyst is responsible for performing, documenting, record checking, and troubleshooting qualitative and quantitative assays on samples using techniques that vary from the use of standard laboratory equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation.  This role participates in manufacturing QC support such as cleaning verification and environmental monitoring.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setup and test equipment in the laboratory to complete specific procedures.
  • Perform complex chemical tests on materials and samples as requested or assigned.
  • Interpret and evaluate data in terms of accuracy, precision, trends, and potential GMP impact.
  • Recommend appropriate corrective action related to test results when necessary.
  • Comprehend and perform routine and non-routine analyses from compendial and internal sources.
  • Author routine assay protocols and conduct assay, process, and instrument qualifications.
  • Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.  
  • Perform maintenance on laboratory equipment by making calibrations, cleaning, replacing parts, and otherwise ensuring ongoing proper working order.  Report equipment issues to supervisor.

Lab Technician

The Lab Technician is responsible for working closely with our laboratory team to develop analytical skills and related experience.  This role works in an environment where various techniques are employed that vary from the use of standard laboratory equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation.  Although the Lab Technician does not perform data review, the skill sets developed by training with the team require keen attention to detail and a foundational understanding of scientific principles.

Location: Van Nuys, CA
Reporting To: Assigned Assay Supervisor
Status: Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Direct Reports: No

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute laboratory protocol and procedures under the supervision of the Assay Lead/Supervisor.
  • Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.  
  • Adhere to quality control procedures as described in the Company’s quality documentation and SOPs.
  • Input data into LIMS and seed-to-sale system, as required.
  • Perform sample preparation and complete QC duties, as assigned.
  • Perform routine and non-routine equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Maintain physical and electronic records.
  • Monitor inventory and supplies.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture while adhering to the highest safety and industry standards, including those that are outlined by the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC).
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • Ability to maintain an incredibly high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong agility, engagement, and flexibility in an ever-changing environment.
  • Working knowledge of logging, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced deadline environment while successfully managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Working knowledge of standard laboratory protocol.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively work, problem solve, and communicate with multiple levels of the organization.

Education and Experience

  • Required: High school diploma or GED with one (1) year or college chemistry or laboratory experience, or one (1) year of analytical laboratory experience.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques, and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting.
  • Optional: Exposure to the cannabis industry.

The Lab Assistant is responsible for maintaining an orderly and compliant laboratory environment.  This includes regularly checking-in with various teams to ensure they have what they need to process samples.  The Lab Assistant works in a facility where various techniques are employed that vary from the use of standard laboratory equipment to highly modern and automated instrumentation.  Keen attention to detail and a foundational understanding of scientific principles are both necessary for success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Intake area is clean and well-organized.
  • Input sample data and paperwork into LIMS and seed-to-sale system.
  • Photograph samples and products.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory processing.
  • Regularly display good laboratory technique to avoid cross-contamination or misidentified samples.  
  • Prepare equipment and plant materials for extraction.
  • Maintain physical and electronic records.  This department oversees strict recordkeeping of all equipment, chemical, and plant materials used in the laboratory.
  • Appropriately store equipment and supplies.  This includes, but is not limited to, waste management and disposal, cleaning working areas, and ensuring storerooms are immaculate.
  • Monitor inventory and supplies.  Sterilize items as needed.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all departments.
  • Promote a strong customer service culture while adhering to the highest safety and industry standards, including those that are outlined by the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC).
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
