CannaSafe leaders come from a diverse background of disciplines and expertise, each with the knowledge, aptitude, and passion that makes CannaSafe excel.
Antonio Frazier is President at CannaSafe. He was the first Furman University athlete to complete a dual-degree engineering program, and earned both a B.S. in Physics from Furman and a B.S. in Materials Engineering from Clemson University—cum laude. Antonio began his career as a Nuclear Quality Engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority, certifying and verifying the final construction of nuclear components. He then moved into aerospace engineering, performing quality assurance for the foundry, testing lab, heat treat, and special finishing departments for SKF USA in Maryland. Antonio is passionate about using his industrial, public safety-focused skillset to forge quality standards in the burgeoning cannabis industry and has been instrumental in its evolution. He focuses his attention on building strong relationships with regulators, supporting policy change, and is actively involved in organizations like ASTM D37, ACIL, and UCBA. Antonio joined the Americans for Safe Access board in 2020. He is deeply committed to social equity and consumer safety education—devoting much of his time at CannaSafe to community involvement.
Chief Science Officer
Ini Afia is the Chief Science Officer at CannaSafe. He earned his M.S. and B.S. at the renowned University of Wisconsin-Madison. Ini draws on more than 17 years of leadership experience in the microbiological and analytical chemistry fields, and his work spans across the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cannabis industries. Ini’s work has been instrumental in the cannabis analytical space, having successfully set up multiple labs with best-in-class methodology, processes, and technology. As CSO, Ini has led CannaSafe toward greater credibility, consistency, and accountability for our clients, regulators, and consumers. He ensures CannaSafe’s developed and validated methodologies are not only robust and efficient, but also developed with consumer safety as a guiding principle. Ini is determined to lead CannaSafe’s to the position of premier cannabis lab in the world. Ini is also a member of the ASTM D37 Technical Committee on Cannabis and a Scientific Committee member of both The Emerald Conference and the CannMed Conferences.
Neya Jourabchian is the Lab Director at CannaSafe. Neya has over 10 years of academia and industry experience. After receiving her B.S. in chemistry, Neya pursued graduate studies in organic chemistry with a full scholarship from Southern Illinois University. Her scientific journey continued when she became a researcher at the University of Missouri, where she worked on a project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Her work on this project resulted in a publication in the Catalysis Communication journal in September 2017. Neya joined CannaSafe in 2018 and helped fulfill various state-mandated regulations, including full method development and validations on all assays. While managing one the most successful cannabis testing labs in the nation, her extensive work on pesticide analysis cleanup methods in cannabis matrices and pesticide trends in California cannabis market were presented at The Emerald Conference in 2019 and 2020. Neya applies her comprehensive education and experience to help clients in cannabis testing environments achieve their goals while saving time and money.
